Symptoms

The resource starts cleanly, but pressing the toggle key does nothing. Or the map opens for some players and not others, or opens in some situations and not others.

Likely cause

The map declines to open in several situations, deliberately and without any message:
  • the pause menu is open;
  • the screen is faded out, or fading out during a spawn, a teleport or a cutscene;
  • the player is not fully loaded in;
  • the player is dead;
  • the map is already opening or closing.
Beyond those, two setup causes:
  • The key is bound to something else. ESCAPE is the default, and it is a key servers often use for their own menus.
  • The player rebound it. Bindings are per player, so a change to the default does not move them.

Resolution

1. Confirm the resource is running

Look for an error at start. The map runs without a framework: with none installed, whether the player is loaded and alive is read from the game itself. If the resource fails to start, the error in the console names the cause; see A product does not start.

2. Check the binding

In FiveM, open the key-mapping settings and find the toggle entry, labelled Toggle 3D Map in English. Confirm a key is bound and that no other resource uses the same one. Rebind it there to test. To change the default for players who have not chosen their own, set defaultKey in Controls. Players who already rebound it keep their choice.

3. Check the player’s state

Try again while standing still, alive, fully loaded, and with no menu open. The map does not open during a screen fade, so pressing the key immediately after spawning or teleporting does nothing.

4. Rule out a rebound binding

If you changed command after players had bound the key, their bindings still point at the old name and no longer reach the map. Players rebind once, in the key-mapping settings.

Verification

Press the key while alive and loaded, with no menu open. The camera rises above the character and the interface appears. The key opens the map; closing is done from the Exit tab. Test with a second player as well: a binding is per player, so one player’s working key proves nothing about another’s.
