# Frequently asked

> Short answers to the questions server owners ask most about Element 3D Pause Menu.

> **Does it replace the game's pause menu?**
>
> Yes. It opens on `ESCAPE` by default, where the pause menu would, and holds the game's own
> settings in its **Settings** tab. To keep the game's pause menu, give the menu another key. See
> [Change the key that opens the menu](https://docs.elementlabs.net/products/3d-pause-menu/guides/change-the-open-key.md).

> **Do I need ESX, QBCore or Qbox?**
>
> No. With one of them running, the player card shows the character's name. Without one, it shows
> the player's FiveM name. Everything else works the same.

> **Why are some markers missing from the map?**
>
> Markers created by your other resources need the integration. See
> [Markers do not appear](https://docs.elementlabs.net/products/3d-pause-menu/troubleshooting/blips-missing.md).

> **Why do other players and vehicles disappear while the map is open?**
>
> So the map shows the city alone. While a player has the menu open, every other player, ped and
> vehicle is hidden on their own screen; the player, their vehicle, its passengers and anything it
> tows stay. Nothing changes for anyone else, and everything comes back as the menu closes.
>
> To keep the world visible, set `hideWorld` to `false` in `configs/map-world.jsonc`. See
> [What is hidden](https://docs.elementlabs.net/products/3d-pause-menu/configuration/map-world.md#what-is-hidden). To keep only
> some players or vehicles in sight, another resource can name them with
> [`AddWorldException`](https://docs.elementlabs.net/products/3d-pause-menu/reference/exports#keeping-entities-in-sight).

> **Does it work with a controller?**
>
> Yes. The map, the tabs, the settings and pages all answer to a controller, and the on-screen
> prompts follow whichever device the player touched last.

> **Which language does it use?**
>
> Each player's own game language, in all thirteen languages the game offers. There is nothing to
> choose. See [Language](https://docs.elementlabs.net/products/3d-pause-menu/configuration/locales.md).

> **Can my own scripts add a tab, or markers?**
>
> Yes. Other resources can open the menu, add markers, add tabs of their own and define other views
> of the map. See [Exports](https://docs.elementlabs.net/products/3d-pause-menu/reference/exports.md) and
> [Pages](https://docs.elementlabs.net/products/3d-pause-menu/reference/pages.md).

> **The map is hard to read at night. Can I change it?**
>
> By default the map always shows a clear midday. If you changed that, see
> [Show the real time and weather](https://docs.elementlabs.net/products/3d-pause-menu/guides/real-time-and-weather.md) to go
> back, or to find a middle ground.
