# Licensing

> Which servers can run a product you bought, what you may change in it, and what you may not do with it.

Element Labs products are sold through our shop and delivered through the Cfx.re portal. A purchase
belongs to the Cfx.re account that made it.

## Which servers can run it

A product runs on a server whose license key (`sv_licenseKey` in `server.cfg`) was created by the
same Cfx.re account that bought the product. On a server with a key from another account, the product
does not start.

To run a product on a server, create that server's license key on the account that owns the product,
or buy the product with the account that owns the server.

## What you may change

| You may edit | You may not edit |
| - | - |
| The settings in `configs` | The product's scripts, which are protected |
| The text and languages in `locales` | The interface, models and textures |
| `fxmanifest.lua`, only to list a language file you added | Anything else in `fxmanifest.lua` |

[Welcome](https://docs.elementlabs.net/get-started/index.md#what-is-inside-a-product) shows which folder is which. An update
replaces all of them, so keep copies of your edits. See [Update a product](https://docs.elementlabs.net/get-started/update.md).

## What a purchase does not allow

* Sharing or reselling the product, in whole or in part.
* Distributing modified copies of its files.
* Running it on servers whose license key belongs to another account.

## Support

Support covers the product as delivered, with your own configuration and language files. See
[Get help](https://docs.elementlabs.net/troubleshooting/get-help.md).
